Rebecca lives in Royal Oak with her husband, daughter, and two rescue cats. She has a track record of serving the Royal Oak community. She currently serves on the Parks, Recreation & Senior Services Committee and has previously served on the Aging in Place Task Force, chairing its Community and Health Services working group.  She has also served on the Health and Sex Education Community Advisory Committee for Royal Oak Schools. 

Rebecca currently works in higher education as a tenured professor of public health at a local public university.  She previously worked in community-based public health.  Over the course of her career, she has worked to address needs of at-risk teens, immigrants, chronically homeless individuals with disabilities, caregivers of people with dementia.

A strong supporter of unionized labor, Rebecca has been a union member for 15 years and is currently a member of OU AAUP AFT 6762. 

Rebecca holds a BA in Psychology from Bates College, a Master of Public Health degree from Boston University, and a PhD in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.

Along with her husband, TJ, she is a parent to her amazing 8-year-old daughter, Lily

Rebecca has been a Royal Oak homeowner and resident for 12 years

She is currently a tenured professor of public health at a public university

  • Coordinates program that helps individuals with associates degrees earn a bachelor's degree

  • Previously served as department chair and public health program director
